 The Women's and Children's Health Program (PSMC) is the part of the National Health Institute responsible for generating knowledge on the health of women and children to support the formulation of public policies and action plans aimed at improving the health indicators of this specific group.

This program reflects the health priorities of the 2014-2019 PES, linked to women's and children's health (currently also covering nutrition and oral health thematic areas), taking into account their relationship with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Program Objectives

  • Identify the factors associated with mortality and the health status of women, adolescents, youth, and children, and their determinants.
  • Evaluate health interventions, strategies, and policies for improving the health quality of women, youth, adolescents, and children.
