The INS has the following bodies:

• The Board of Directors is the advisory and management body of the INS;

• The Advisory Council is the INS's consultation and coordination body;

• The Technical-Scientific Council is the multisectoral advisory body of the Directorate-General of the INS;

• The Scientific Institutional Committee is an advisory body to the General Directorate of INS, concerning the institution's technical-scientific development.;

• The Institutional Ethics Committee is a technical body that oversees the ethical aspects of the INS's technical-scientific activities.;

• The Institutional Biosafety Committee is a technical body that oversees biosafety aspects in the technical-scientific activities of INS
