Coordinator

Mozambique has recently recorded a high incidence of trauma cases (mainly from road accidents), domestic violence, suicide, and alcohol and drug use, situations which are, in most cases, interconnected. As this is a matter of national priority, the National Institute of Health considered the creation of this program important in order to contribute to the production of evidence that will enable the formulation of national policies, strategies, and programs in the area of mental health, trauma, and violence, which will help reverse this scenario.

Program Objectives

• Contribute to the formulation of policies, strategies, and programs in the area of mental health, trauma, and violence.

Research Areas

• Mental Health (mental illnesses, suicide, alcoholism, drug use)
• Trauma (resulting from road accidents/crashes) and
• All types of violence.
