The National Health Institute coordinates, throughout the country, the Public Health Laboratory Network (LSP), responsible for specialized diagnostics, laboratory surveillance, investigation, and response to public health outbreaks and emergencies.

Public Health Laboratories play a strategic role in strengthening the national health system, ensuring specialized laboratory analyses in the areas of Microbiology, Parasitology, Virology, Cellular Immunology, Entomology, Molecular Diagnostics, and Genetic Sequencing, among others. PHLs also ensure the implementation of Quality Management Systems, External Quality Assessment, and training and technical supervision activities for the national laboratory network.

The Public Health Laboratories Network is comprised of:
